India Post Recruitment 2026: The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India has released a new recruitment notification for 23,759 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts.
These vacancies are for Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak posts in different postal circles across India.

India Post GDS Salary
GDS employees receive remuneration through Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA). The basic TRCA slab depends on the post.

Selection Process
There is no written examination for India Post GDS recruitment.
The selection is mainly based on the marks obtained in Class 10th.
The selection process can be understood as follows:
1. Merit List
India Post will prepare a system-generated merit list using the marks/grades obtained by candidates in their Class 10th examination.
The marks will be converted into percentage, with the merit calculation made up to four decimal places.
2. Document Verification
Candidates shortlisted in the merit list will have to appear before the concerned postal authority for physical verification of their original documents.
3. Provisional Engagement
If the documents are found correct, the candidate will receive an offer of provisional engagement.
After that, the candidate has to complete the required joining formalities within the prescribed time.
