The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will soon release the official notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), February 2026.
This test is for candidates who wish to become teachers in schools from Classes I to VIII.
CTET 2026 will be conducted on 8th February 2026 in 132 cities across India in 20 different languages.

Eligibility Criteria of CBSE CTET 2026
The minimum qualifications are as per the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines.
Candidates are advised to check the official NCTE website — https://ncte.gov.in — for full details.
For Classes I–V (Primary Stage)
Any one of the following:
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed.
- Senior Secondary with 45% marks and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed. (as per NCTE norms).
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year B.El.Ed.
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 2-year Diploma in Special Education.
- Graduation with 50% marks and B.Ed. (with 6-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education).
For Classes VI–VIII (Elementary Stage)
Any one of the following:
- Graduation and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed.
- Graduation with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year B.Ed.
- Graduation with 45% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (as per NCTE norms).
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year B.El.Ed.
- Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.
- Graduation with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
- Any candidate who has completed B.Ed. recognized by NCTE can appear in CTET.

CTET Exam Structure/ Pettern –
There will be two papers –
- Paper I: For teaching Classes I–V
- Paper II: For teaching Classes VI–VIII
Each paper will have 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 1 mark each.
There is no negative marking.
